The vertical discharge installation is similar to the open sump except the water is discharged into an open chamber and gravity flows to a desired destination. Typical applications are storm water and effluent in a waste treatment plant. The pump is supported on two floors. The upper floor supports the driver. The lower floor supports the pump column and bowl assembly (pumping element).
